Policy FAQs

  • You can get groceries delivered to The Farmhouse or The Hillhouse on the day of your arrival. Please request a delivery slot from 4pm entry time.

    • Longforgan village shop and Post Office is less than a mile away. They have all the essentials.

    • Grewars farm shop – well stocked farm shop at Muirhead, not far from us with a good selection of Scottish local produce.

    • Many supermarkets within 2 miles.

    • BP garage on A90 – M&S and all night garage for fuel, extra kindling and logs in Winter if you run out, Charcoal in Summer.

  • Small starter pack on arrival of some local goodies, fresh farm strawberries in season. Enough toilet roll, bin bags, dishwasher tabs, kitchen roll to get you started. Logs, kindling and fire starters for fires. The Hillhouse also has wood for the wood fired hot tub.

  • Arrival time is 4pm. In some circumstances you can arrange an earlier entry if guests have not left the property on your arrival day and the property has been fully cleaned. It must be arranged in writing with Nicola.

  • Departure time is by 10am. If there are guests coming in the same day it is important that you depart on time as it takes us the whole day to prepare large properties and their gardens. A later departure can be pre-arranged with Nicola if no one is coming into the property on the day that you are leaving and there is no maintenance to be done like painting etc.

  • Our properties have a masterlock box or key coded access. We will contact you with details for accessing your holiday property a few days before your arrival. If you would rather someone met you at the property, please do get in touch and we will try to arrange it for you if someone is available.

  • We are usually working on the farm or in office from 7.30am until 4pm Monday to Saturday. You can call or text Nicola on 07525730466 during these hours or email us at carmichaelfarmescapes.co.uk Out of hours if you have a matter of urgency (ie flooding, power cut) and require assistance, please call Nicola and leave a message. Nicola or another member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • There is private parking at The Farmhouse (up to 4 cars) and at The Hillhouse (up to 6 cars). Cars may not be parked on the farm. We do not cater for camper van or motorhome parking.

  • The properties must be secured on departure and the key put back in the masterlock. The key fob for the electric gates at The Hillhouse must be left in the same place in the property.

  • The closest hospital is Ninewells, Dundee and is about 5 miles away by car. Muirhead Medical Centre is our GP surgery (01382 580264) if you need to see a doctor while on holiday. If you need urgent, non-life-threatening help when surgeries are closed, call NHS 24 on 111, use nhsinform.scot for info, or call 999 for emergencies.

  • Holiday let bookings are made at your own risk, and we do advise taking out travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances that mean you can no longer go on holiday.

  • Yes, expect to recycle while you are on holiday. We have 4 bins, 1 for general waste, 1 for recycling (except glass, paper and cardboard), 1 for glass and 1 for paper and cardboard. There are detailed instructions in the properties.

  • The Farmhouse is dog friendly. The Hillhouse does not accept dogs in the house or garden at this time. If The Farmhouse and The Hillhouse are booked together, dogs must be kept at The Farmhouse.

  • Yes we offer short breaks, usually out of high season. Short breaks are generally from 3 nights and start on Fridays or Mondays but variations do occur so it is best to check availability on the booking calendar.

  • We understand that some visitors have special requirements in terms of access to our properties or the facilities needed within it. Please do get in touch with Nicola for more details or if you have any questions. Below I have added a brief accessibility summary of each property.

    • The Farmhouse has a ramp from the car park to the ground floor and the kitchen, living room, master bedroom with walk-in shower are all on one level ( please note slight ledge into shower), shower stool, accessible sink, toilet grab rail. The garden decks are accessible with a ramp leading down to the lower deck.

    • The Hillhouse has a built-in ramp at the front door and a removable ramp on request inside the front door to the open plan living, kitchen, dining, and downstairs bedrooms. There is an accessible bedroom and accessible shower room next door with a level walk-in shower, grab rails and a shower seat.The outdoor deck can be accessed from the living room sliding doors and there is a built in ramp to the patio/hot tub/outdoor fireplace area.

  • Any events or parties must be agreed in writing by Nicola and extra charges will apply.

  • Our properties both have wifi to the whole house, but please be aware that wifi connection in the countryside may be slower and more temperamental than you may be used to.

    If we are made aware in advance of your holiday of the wifi services becoming unavailable, we will advise you so that you can make alternative arrangements, in case wifi access is essential whilst you are away. However, we may not always have prior warning and any disruption to the services are completely outside of all parties’ control.

  • We do not but we are happy to recommend some fantastic caterers that will come and cook a delicious meal for you and tidy up afterwards! Please get in touch if you would like any help.

  • Yes we can change your linen and provide clean towels after one week.

  • Please notify Nicola as soon as possible if you damage something so that it can be replaced or repaired in time for the next guests. Depending on what it is and the extent, it may be charged for.

  • The security deposit will be returned after the property is cleaned and inspected and in full if there is no damage to the property or extra cleaning and rubbish removal.

  • We of course hope your stay is an enjoyable one. However, if any issues arise or you have cause for complaint, please message or call Nicola on 07525730466 or email nicola@carmichaelfarmescapes.co.uk and we will call you back as soon as possible. If it is out of work hours and not a matter of urgency (e.g. TV, Wifi etc.), it may be the following day before somebody is back in the office. If it is a matter of urgency like flooding or power cut we will get back to you as soon as we can.

    Regrettably we are unable to investigate any complaints once you have departed if we are not made aware of them during your stay or given the opportunity to fix any issues, we hope you understand.

  • Yes we do – they are left in an information folder in each property and we have some notices on the walls to kindly remind guests. So that future guests can enjoy it too, we ask that you kindly refer to the information folder and notices while you are staying. We really appreciate your compliance!
